After what seemed like weeks of poor flying weather, today was one of those rare days (for this time of year) with great flying conditions all day long. And on my day off! Seeing the forecast the night before, I planned to make two outings to the field.

The morning session was slightly breezy at first, then the winds died down around mid morning. I brought two helicopters and my Bugs 3 quadcopter. There was a thin layer of snow on the runway that I watched melt as the temperature rose. After about two hours, I went home to eat lunch and re-charge batteries.

The afternoon was fantastic. The temperature had risen to about 5 degrees (balmy) and the winds were calm to very light. For the near perfect conditions, I brought my two 3D planes and my 450 heli. In the picture below, those who tune in regularly might notice the new "nose-job" on the plane to the left. About a month ago this model lawn-darted into the frozen ground from about 20 feet after the ESC cut out during a hover. Luckily, only the nose section was destroyed and I was able to re-build a new one. Today I made the first test flights after the repairs and I was very happy with the results.

In total 27 flights were flown over about 4 hours between the two visits. If anyone is planning to make a trip out to the field as the weather begins to warm up, please make a post here. Maybe we can meet up.
